Arcane Season 2 Potential Netflix Release Cast, Story & Everything We Know So Far

Arcane Season 2 Officially Renewed By Netflix

It’s recently been revealed that Arcane Season 2 is in the works over at Netflix, which is great news and many fans of the show want to know when Season 2 will be released!

Fans are also keen on knowing who will star in the series, and what will happen in Season 2? Before we get into all of that, let’s explore what happened and what was said about Arcane Season 2.

Netflix and Riot Games recently confirmed that a second season of the League of Legends-based animated series is officially on the way.

The two companies made the announcement at the conclusion of a fan event on Saturday evening. Here’s what the show’s co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee had to say about the renewal:

We’re beyond happy about the positive response to Arcane’s first season and are working hard with the creative wizards at Riot and [French animation studio] Fortiche to deliver our second installment.

Netflix did confirm that the second season of Arcane started production back in November 2021. According to Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent, the original series took six years to make.

However, he promised in a tweet that we won’t have to wait such a long time for Arcane Season 2.

Riot Games are a video game company at heart, but this Arcane series is their first foray into the world of film and television content.

They don’t have any other TV projects announced for the immediate future. However, the animated series, which combines both hand-drawn and CG art styles, is a pretty impressive first attempt. I’ll be very interested in seeing what they do next with regards to their film and television content.

Now, Netflix wasn’t kind enough to give us an official release date for Arcane Season 2.

However, we can come up with what might prove to be a very accurate guess with regards to Arcane Season 2’s release date.

The first season debuted on Netflix on November 6th.

It was released as three chapters, each consisting of three episodes.

Riot Games recent revealed that the whole production took just over a year to make.

Therefore, you can expect Season 2 to be released around about the same time next year.

So, maybe on November 6th, 2022.

So, it’s still not known what’s going to happen in Season 2, but what we do know is that a lot of the voice cast from Season 1 is going to also be in Season 2.

We know that Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell and Katie Leung will be coming back in their respective voice roles of Vi, Jinx and Caitlyn Kiramman.

As for what could happen in Season 2, Reed Shannon has some plot ideas for future seasons (via CBR).

“I would love to see Ekko and Mel interact. That would be crazy… There’s one thing about Arcane that I was very interested in, because of the poverty difference, because of the difference between the top city and the Undercity, race isn’t a thing that is discussed between the characters. So I would love to see how people that look the same interact. Is there that sort of thing, or is everybody just there? I would also love to see them interact just because Ekko is so smart, and she might be like, ‘Oh, you could be used… We could take you back to Noxus and you could build a big anything.’ That would be pretty interesting.

It seems as though there’s a chance Shannon could see his wishes come true on the big screen.

“We want to tell more stories,” Linke told Superpixel.

Linke continued:

There’s going to be more things we want to explore whether or not it’s going to be a TV show or movie. I think similar to Arcane, we didn’t say from the beginning that we want it to be a TV show or something. We just went with ‘Okay, we love these characters. Here’s a story that we’re going to tell.’ And then over time, we found out we need the time of a TV show to go as deep as we want to – Vi and Jinx, Victor and Jayce, etc. But there could be a story at some point where it’s gonna be a movie format. I think we definitely have plans to tell a lot more stories when I really explore this. I think the answer is yes, there will be.

The second season of Arcane will be executed produced by Christian Linke, alongside Marc Merrill, Brandon Beck, Jane Chung and Thomas Vu.

The show is set in the universe of and serves as a prequel to the hugely popular MMO (massively multiplayer online game), League of Legends.

The game was first released back in 2009, and it’s not one of the major titles in esports.

Riot Games was founded by Beck and Merrill and is currently led by CEO Nicolo Laurent.

The company has more than 2,500 employees worldwide.
