Andrew Garfield Denies Spider-Man 3 Casting Rumours

The excitement for Spider-Man 3 has been bubbling over the past 12 months, and now Andrew Garfield is saying he’s not returning as Spider-Man in the movie.

We’ve mentioned previously if the hype still exists for Black Widow from Disney recently.

It’s moved dates multiple times and now sees a £25 Disney Plus and a cinematic release at the same time.

But Spider-Man has stayed the course. Notably due to the constant rumours around a potential ‘multiverse arc in the film.

For those of you living under a rock the past 12 months, we’ve seen all sorts of rumours.

Is Andrew Garfield returning in Spider-Man 3?

From the original (to me) Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire was rumoured to have been spotted suiting up for a costume in the film, and potentially being confirmed on Twitter as in the cast.

There was a rumour that Tom Hardy’s Venom might be making an appearance in the movie.

Recently Academy Award nominee Andrew Garfield who starred in The Amazing Spider-Man reboot back in 2012 is rumoured to have signed on.

The list is growing of the potential crossovers, former stars and characters signing back onto the project, and social media has gone wild around it.

However, during an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with MTV’s Josh Horowitz Garfield told the host in referring to the rumours “I ain’t got the call”.

Yet knowing Marvel’s key for surprises and crossovers along with the large success the recent Spider-Man series has become with Tom Holland, can we really trust what he says?

With Jamie Foxx already confirmed as Electro (who incidentally starred as the villain opposite Garfield in his last Spider-Man outing).

And the return of Spider-Man 2 (Maguire) villain Doctor Octopus played by Alfred Molina confirmed, is it less or more likely that both Garfield and Maguire will be seen in the film?

Most likely we won’t find out until the full trailer drops ahead of the Sony Pictures release on December 17th.

What do you think?

Is he being coy or is he telling the truth?

Do you want to see a Spider-Man multiverse?
