X-Men: Dark Phoenix’s Budget Is Now Over $200 Million After Costly Reshoots

X-Men: Dark Phoenix’s budget is now at a staggering $200 million after some costly reshoots saw it balloon beyond what Fox had initially planned.

20th Century Fox’s last Marvel movie could very easily turn out to be X-Men: Dark Phoenix if the reports of Disney’s acquisition of the movie studio are correct.

Dark Phoenix was initially intended to hit cinemas in November 2018, and it was then pushed back to June 2019.

Simon Kinberg is directing the picture which has gone through some extensive and apparently very costly reshoots.

The excitement levels around this film have been somewhat muted since Fox delayed its released date.

However, this could also have something to do with the fact that fans weren’t so enamoured with the last X-Men film, X-Men: Apocalypse.

That said, Dark Phoenix will see the return of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner and Tye Sheridan in their respective X-Men roles.

This will also be the last time we see the likes of McAvoy, Fassbender and Lawrence in these movies.

The film’s new budget is reported to be over $200 million thanks to these reshoots, which is seriously over budget.

The film has now been predicted to be one of 2019’s big box office flops.

We’ll have to wait and see whether that does turn out to be the case.

There’s also been no news on when we might see the other Fox X-Men movie which was pushed back, The New Mutants.

There’s a possibility that the film could end up on Disney’s streaming platform once their acquisition of Fox goes through.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is slated to hit UK cinemas on June 7th, 2019.
