Truth Seekers Season 1 has been getting people talking after it was released on Amazon Prime Video last week, and we’re now asking ourselves when will Truth Seekers Season 2’s release date be? We did some digging into when it could come out, however, it seems like we might have to wait a while.
The very first season of Truth Seekers is brilliant. I absolutely loved it, and it’s so good to see Simon Pegg and Nick Frost work together again. That said, Pegg’s time in the first season was pretty minimal.
The show follows Smyle broadband installer Gus (Nick Frost) and his new assistant Elton John (Samson Kayo) (yep, that’s his actual name). They start off not being too sure about one another, however, they end up stumbling upon paranormal happenings and opt to explore them further.
Together, they film and document these strange happenings and things start to go very crazy when they meet Astrid (Emma D’Arcy) who’s being tormented by strange ghostly entities. The series also features the likes of Julian Barratt, playing the very odd and pretty sinister Dr Peter Toynbee, Malcolm McDowell, who plays Gus’s father-in-law Richard, and Susan Wokoma who plays Elton’s sister Helen. Truth Seekers Season 1 ended on a pretty big cliffhanger and we’re desperate for more.
Truth Seekers Season 2’s release date: when will new episodes be released on Amazon Prime Video?
So, with that in mind, it’s time to try and work out when Truth Seekers Season 2’s release date could be. What’s pretty certain is that the second season of the show will be even stranger and maybe even more terrifying than the first season.
There has been talk of Edgar Wright possibility directing an episode in Season 2, which would be great. However, with COVID-19 putting the breaks on basically everything, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll see a Season 2 any time soon.
There’s also the fact that the actors involved in this series are becoming very, very busy. We already know that Simon Pegg will find fitting time in his busy schedule to film a Season 2 very difficult. He’s filming the next Mission: Impossible movie with Tom Cruise at the moment, and that will be taking up a lot of his time.
Nick Frost is also working on another series. He’s working on Joss Whedon’s new series The Nevers. That show will tell the story of a group of supernaturally gifted Victorian women who save the world. Following that, he’ll start work on another comedy horror “set on a remote Swedish island” (via iNews). He’s also going to be in Season 2 of Why Women Kill alongside Allison Tolman (via Variety).
Truth Seekers Season 1’s cast and plot was brilliant
All this means that we might be waiting a while for producers/writers Frost, Pegg, Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz to get started on work for Truth Seekers Season 2. That said, I’m pretty certain they’ll want to get started on Season 2 as soon as possible. Nick Frost recently told Digital Spy that he can’t wait to get started on Season 2. Here’s what he said:
I’d love to see where it goes and I’d love to have the chance to eat more biscuits in the van with Samson.
Samson Kayo said a similar thing during the same interview with Digital Spy, saying: “I’d love to so another season, that would be great”.
Hopefully, Malcolm McDowell could also return for Truth Seekers Season 2. Despite being 77 years old, the actor revealed that he has no intention of slowing down any time soon. “I really, probably, should slow down,” he said recently during a group press interview for Truth Seekers Season 1 (via Geektown).
He then added: “I think I’ve got like a stack of films waiting just to get the go-ahead and then we’ll see how it goes.” This sounds very promising as far as a Truth Seekers Season 2 release date is concerned.
Truth Seekers Season 2 has to feature both Nick Frost and Simon Pegg
As far as who else could return in Truth Seekers Season 2 is concerned, I’m pretty sure that most of the cast would want to return. The likes of Nick Frost (Gus Roberts), Samson Kayo (Elton John), Emma D’Arcy (Astrid), Malcolm McDowell (Richard), Susan Wokoma (Helen), Simon Pegg (Dave), Taj Atwal (Elara), Julian Barratt (Peter Toynbee), Kelly Macdonald (Jojo74) and Rosalie Craig (Emily) could all be returning in one form or another.
It also seems pretty certain that the main crew could also return for a Season 2. That would also include co-creators Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz, cinematographer Arthur Mulhern, production designer Julian Nagel, costume designer Wiz Francis and the visual effects team.
