Thunderbolts’ cast was revealed at this year’s D23 Expo, and I have to say that it was pretty darn impressive. I, for one, cannot wait to see what Marvel’s answer to The Suicide Squad has to offer us.
I have been really looking forward to watching this movie ever since it was announced by Kevin Feige. There had been rumours that it was happening for quite some time. I never really believed that Marvel would go down that route. However, the Disney Plus series, The Falcon And The Winter Solider did a lot to set up the movie. The Thunderbolts film was then officially announced as being a thing at San Deigo Comic-Con.

Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova/Black Widow II) wasn’t at D23 in person. However, she was confirmed as being a part of the movie. A cast photo before the panel revealed that Wyatt Russell (John Walker/US Agent), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava/Ghost), Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine) are all part of Thunderbolts – and so is Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier. I have to say that Stan’s involvement in the movie was a bit of a shock to me.
They then revealed some concept art of the Thunderbolts together, and it also showed that Black Widow’s Taskmaster is also on the team. However, this version of Taskmaster looked a little bit more like the version we know from the comics. So, we could be seeing a slightly altered version of the character from the one we saw in Black Widow.
This Thunderbolts movie will mark the end of Marvel’s Phase 5. It’ll be released in cinemas on July 26th, 2024.
