The petition to have Amber Heard fired as Mera from Aquaman 2 is now reaching 1.5 million signatures. That said, Heard is still claiming that this petition is fake and that the numbers are inflated.
This petition soared past 1 million signatures soon after it was revealed that Johnny Depp had lost his libel case against The Sun in the UK courts. Depp was then asked to step down from the role of Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
People then started asking why Amber Heard wasn’t also asked to step down from the role of Mera in Aquaman 2. However, it’s being reported by multiple outlets that Heard’s role in the upcoming Aquaman sequel is actually being expanded.
The petition to remove Amber Heard as Mera in Aquaman 2 is closing in on 1.5 million signatures
This petition is on Change.org and is quickly becoming one of the most signed petitions on the platform. However, it’s been reported that Warner Bros. Pictures is not paying any attention to this.
If rumours are true, they think that the numbers in this petition are inflated and that it shouldn’t be taken seriously. That said, even if the numbers are a bit inflated, it would be far too difficult to fake over 1.5 million signatures.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Heard opened up about the petitions online to have her fired from Aquaman 2. Here’s what she said: “Paid rumours and paid campaigns on social media don’t dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality. Only the fans actually made Aquaman and Aquaman 2 happen. I’m excited to get started next year.”
