Did The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Trailer Tease Wolverine’s MCU Presence?

It seems as though the recent Super Bowl trailer for The Falcon And The Winter Soldier might have teased Wolverine’s presence in the MCU. This was revealed by Mikey Sutton over at Geekosity who has a pretty keen eye for these sorts of details.

Now, I’m going to be completely honest with you, when I watched The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’s trailer, this totally passed me by. Luckily, Sutton was on the ball and he spotted something in the trailer which seems to hint a Wolverine being present in the MCU in some sort of way.

During the trailer, we see our first glimpse of Madripoor which is a made-up Southeast Asian island in the Marvel Comics and is basically their version of Singapore. Why is this important? Well, it’s because this island had a lot to do with Wolverine in the comics.

The island was first introduced by Chris Claremont and artist Steve Leialohn in New Mutants No. 35 in 1985. In the comics, Wolverine ended up making this island into his new home and even wore a disguise while on the island so that no one would recognize him. The disguise was an eye patch and he called himself Patch. I see what you did there, Logan.

However, this might not mean that we will be getting to see the MCU’s version of Wolverine in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier. What this is, is a nice nod to the comics and maybe a little tease to what’s to come in the MCU.

I’m pretty sure that Marvel is looking at bringing in Wolverine into the MCU. Whether they cast a new actor in the role or somehow manage to convince Hugh Jackman to return to the role is still very much up in the air. Who knows. Marvel Studios might be able to pull both off.
