Thandie Newton Found Working With Tom Cruise On Mission: Impossible 2 A ‘Nightmare’

Thandie Newton has opened up about her time working with Tom Cruise on the set of Mission: Impossible 2 and branded the experience as a “nightmare”.

I could imagine Tom Cruise being a tough person to work with on his action films at times.

I think he would be especially difficult on the Mission: Impossible movies.

Those films are very much his babies and he wants to make them as good as he possibly can.

However, when they were making the sequel to the hugely successful first Mission: Impossible movie it seems as though he was very difficult to work with.

Part of the reason might have been because he felt the pressure of making the sequel as good and possibly even better than the first.

That said, he made Thandie Newton’s time on the movie a “nightmare”, and that’s not cool at all, Tom.

She revealed this during a recent interview with Vulture and she branded her time working with Tom Cruise a “nightmare”.

Here’s what she had to say about her experience on Mission: Impossible 2:

He [Tom Cruise] was a very dominant individual. He tries super hard to be a nice person. But the pressure. He takes on a lot. And I think he has this sense that only he can do everything as best as it can be done.

Newton then went on to describe a specific scene the two were trying to film together and they ended up getting “frustrated with each other” and “it wasn’t going well”.

According to Newton, Cruise suggested rehearsing by switching the lines around, meaning Newton said his line and he said hers.

And it was the most unhelpful… I can’t think of anything less revealing. It just pushed me further into a place of terror and insecurity. It was a real shame. And bless him. And I really do mean bless him, because he was trying his damnedest.

Eventually, Newton said she got the scene done “because I realised what he wanted. He just wanted this alpha b****.”

He wasn’t horrible. It was just – he was really stressed.

She then went on to describe the whole ordeal as a “nightmare”.
