Stephen King Reacts To Doctor Sleep’s Poor Box Office

Doctor Sleep came out earlier this month, and Mike Flanagan’s take on Stephen King’s follow-up to The Shining hasn’t done too well at the box office.

The film has only managed to bring in over $34 million worldwide at the box office, which really isn’t too good, even for an R-rated horror movie.

However, writer Stephen King has come out in support of the movie despite its poor showing at the box office.

King even took the time to praise Mike Flanagan’s work and his movie, which King is very proud of, via his Twitter account.

You can check out King’s tweet below.

King said: “I mostly write books and hope for the best. Box office numbers aside, Mike Flanagan’s film is excellent. If people choose not to go, that is their choice, but when something is good, I cheer for it.”

Personally, I didn’t think much of the film, but I can understand where Stephen King is coming from and respect his stance on the movie.

However, the numbers don’t lie, and it does seem as though audiences haven’t been completely taken with the movie, and the film’s reviews haven’t been all positive.

They’ve actually been quite mixed, which isn’t what you want with a movie like this.
