Will Ewan McGregor Play Obi-Wan Kenobi In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker?

There have been rumours that Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker could feature the return of some iconic Jedi Masters including the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Some people have even suggested that the likes of Yoda, Mace Windu and Qui-Gon Jinn might return in this movie too.

However, according to Making Star Wars’ recent article in which they reveal which old Star Wars character will be returning in The Rise Of Skywalker, only Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Yoda, Ahsoka Tano and Ezra Bridger are the confirmed ‘older’ Force users to be returning in this picture.

They revealed that all these characters’ voices will be heard in Rey’s head during another vision sequence, but we wanted to know whether this meant that Ewan McGregor could get to play Obi-Wan Kenobi before his upcoming Star Wars live-action Kenobi TV series.

It would make perfect sense for Kenobi to return, and his voice was already heard in Star Wars: The Force Awakens during a similar vision sequence.

It was revealed that Ewan did return to record the line of dialogue, but given the fact that he’s already been confirmed to star in the upcoming Kenobi series, it would make sense to have him actually appear in this movie.

It would get people even more excited for the upcoming Disney Plus TV series and would be a nice nod to the fans who’ve wanted to see him come back to Star Wars for so long.

However, the only problem would be that the characters in the Star Wars franchise who are still alive and knew Kenobi only knew him as an old man (as played by Sir Alec Guinness), so it might not make a ton of sense to have Kenobi return as his younger self.

However, when Jedi Masters return as Force ghosts, they have a tendency of coming back looking a lot younger (just look at Anakin Skywalker when he returns as a Force ghost in Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi).
