Sebastian Stan Is Being Eyed For A Luke Skywalker Star Wars Series

It’s been revealed that Sebastian Stan is being considered to play Luke Skywalker in an upcoming Star Wars series for Disney Plus.

This news comes to us from Mikey Sutton over at Geekosity.

It was revealed a few days ago that Disney and Lucasfilm are actively looking into making a Luke Skywalker Star Wars series for Disney Plus.

It sounds like this is something that Disney and Lucasfilm have been very keen on making for quite some time now.

The fact that Luke ended up – SPOILERS – cameoing in The Mandalorian Season 2 just demonstrated that they were keen on bringing the iconic Jedi back into the Star Wars fold.

However, making a whole series involving a CGI character wouldn’t be the easiest nor the most cost-effective way to go.

Therefore, it sounds like Lucasfilm is now looking at the possibility of bringing in an actor to play the role instead.

Here’s what Geekosity’s Mikey Sutton had to say on the matter:

In December, I reported that Sebastian Stan was courted to play Luke Skywalker in the upcoming Lando show on Disney Plus. No, negotiations haven’t begun yet; however, there have been talks of Luke Skywalker being in multiple projects for the streamer. Lucasfilm’s top choice is Sebastian Stan.

So, it seems as though Lucasfilm and Disney have realized that it would be unrealistic to make a series involving a de-aged Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker.

It would be far cheaper and just easier if they were to hire someone like Sebastian Stan to play the role instead.

It’s not like they haven’t recast famous Star Wars characters in the past – just look at Solo: A Star Wars Story.
