Mel Gibson Confirms Lethal Weapon 5 Is Being Worked On With Richard Donner Directing

Mel Gibson has revealed that Lethal Weapon 5 is in the works as we speak and he also added that Richard Donner would be directing. He revealed this during a recent interview with Good Morning America.

Gibson revealed this during a recent interview in which he was talking about his upcoming movie, Fatman, in which he plays Santa Claus. However, it’s not a version of the man we’re used to.

This version of the jolly bearded man is not so jolly. He’s much more gruff, edgy and is very much Mel Gibson’s cup of tea these days. He’s the sort of character he likes to play.

Here’s what Mel Gibson revealed during the interview about Lethal Weapon 5, which he said is happening:

Absolutely. The man who was behind all of that, the man who brought it to the screen and gave it the goodies is working on it right now, Richard Donner. He’s a legend.

Richard Donner, of course, directed the first Lethal Weapon movies, however, he’s not as young as he once was. Richard Donner is now 90 years old, so if they want this movie to happen, then they’d better get a move on. Donner’s not going to be around forever.

I could image the movie having a rather interesting take on the characters of Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh. They’re now entering their twilight years, and I’m pretty sure the movie will expand upcoming Murtaugh’s now-iconic line: “I’m too old for this shit!”
