Well, blimey! It seems the folks at Marvel are having a bit of a bother with their upcoming reboot of Blade. The film, which has been as elusive as a British summer, can’t seem to catch a break and has been pushed back once again (via Variety).

If you’re thinking, “Not again!” don’t worry, you’re not alone. So, grab a cuppa, sit back, and let’s delve into this cinematic saga that is becoming as twisty as a Dickens novel.

First, the Director Takes a Bow

Our story began last September when the original director of Blade decided to leave the project, a move akin to a British exit at a party – unexpected and leaving everyone slightly confused.

Then, the First Delay

If losing the director was a punch to the gut, then the next blow was a knee to the groin. A few weeks after the director’s departure, the film’s release date was pushed back by ten months. This move had fans feeling like they’d been left waiting for a bus in the rain – disappointed, soggy, and questioning their life choices.

A Ray of Hope, and Then Another Setback

With a new director and screenwriter on board, it seemed like Blade was finally slicing its way towards production. But then, in a twist worthy of a Sunday night drama, the ongoing WGA strike forced Marvel to shut down pre-production on the film. This setback was a bit like finding out your favourite biscuit has been discontinued – utterly gutting.

The release date, which was initially set for September 6, 2024, has now been shifted to February 14, 2025. This is due to Disney rearranging their release dates for the next few years, with Blade being one of the affected films. It’s like being told Christmas has been postponed – sure, you’ll still get your presents, but the wait is going to be a right pain.

Will It Ever See the Light of Day?

The recurring delays and uncertainties have fans, including yours truly, wondering if this film will ever see the light of day. It’s almost like waiting for the chimes of Big Ben, currently under restoration – will we ever hear that familiar bong again?

What About Mahershala Ali?

With all these setbacks, there’s speculation that Mahershala Ali, set to play the titular vampire hunter, might eventually throw in the towel. After all, the chap is a phenomenal actor, and he’s 49. If the film gets delayed any further, he might decide he’s a bit long in the tooth to helm a new action franchise. And then, who knows what will happen? It’s a bit like wondering if the queen will ever give up the throne – the possibilities are both intriguing and terrifying.

So there you have it, another chapter in the seemingly never-ending saga of Marvel’s Blade reboot. While all this may be a tad frustrating, let’s keep calm and carry on, hoping that Blade will indeed meet its new 2025 release date. In the meantime, I suppose we’ll just have to find other ways to get our vampire fix. Anyone up for a Twilight marathon? No? Just me, then? Alright, cheerio!
