Lucifer Season 5 Casts Dennis Haysbert As God Replacing Neil Gaiman
We finally know who’ll be playing Lucifer’s father, God, in the show’s final season, Season 5, which should be hitting Netflix sometime this year.
It was revealed by Entertainment Weekly that Dennis Haysbert will be playing God in the final season, and it’s been a very long wait to see the celestial being in the show.
There have been teases pointing at God’s arrival in the show since the very beginning.
There’s been a lot of Lucifer (played by Tom Ellis) looking up at the sky and talking to ‘dad’, usually in a rather angry fashion.
“Is this what you wanted, Dad?” He asks the sky on many occasions throughout the show, and we’re now finally going to get to see God’s grand entrance.
It had been believed that Neil Gaiman could be appearing as God, as he voiced the character in the show before, and he also wrote the comic books which the show is based on.
God’s coming to Lucifer Season 5
However, they decided not to go with the British author, and instead opted for 24’s Dennis Haysbert, and I’m going to be honest here, it’s brilliant casting.
Lucifer’s showrunner, Joe Henderson revealed that the character “will appear throughout,” the final season of the supernatural drama.
However, we don’t know anything else about what God will be getting up to in Season 5.
My guess is he’ll have to sort out his children’s mess.
Showrunner Henderson said: “We did like the big crazy list of [possible actors for the part], and he was my top choice.
“We were lucky. It was our first and only offer.”
I almost forgot, Timothy Omundson also played a man claiming to be God in the series, before having to give up his supposedly enchanted belt which made him a vessel for Lucifer’s dad.
