Keanu Reeves & John Wick Director Making A New Action Film Together

Keanu Reeves and John Wick director Chad Stahelski are likely to be starting a new blockbuster movie franchise after the phenomenal vengeful assassin.

John Wick was truly a surprise hit for Reeves and Stahelski when it came out in 2014. Relatively simple in its plot: a retired assassin giving the people who killed his dog and everyone protecting them hell. The dog that his wife gave him before she died is the sole reason why a whole “dinner banquet” is served within days.

Derek Kolstad created the world where the High Table reigns over a network of assassins. And people around the world can’t get enough of the action and story that spin-offs movies, and series are coming their way.

Meanwhile, with John Wick 5 still in some sort of limbo (because how can you actually get a fifth with what’s happened in the 4th?), the star and director team-up of Reeves and Stahelski might just be brewing something else.

In a report from Giant Freakin Robot, Keanu Reeves might just star in Chad Stahelski’s new action-packed movie entitled The Pursuit. The story tells about a highly skilled thief commissioned to steal an artefact that inadvertently grants him superpowers.

Definitely, the two found each other as the best team to start off another hit. Audiences love watching Reeves, who, by the way, is approaching his 59th birthday this September, when he shows off badass moves from Stahelski’s keen sense of action filled with incredible stunts. One punch and kick after another, Reeves serves up as much as he can take. Many argue he can do more.

This isn’t much of a surprise since many know that Reeves and Stahelski go back way before the John Wick franchise of Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment. John Wick was actually Stahelski’s directorial debut, and the whole franchise composes his portfolio of completed work since he helmed productions. But that isn’t his first time working with Reeves.

Prior to directing, Chad Stahelski has built his name on stunt coordination and action fight scene choreography. His previous works include Deadpool 2, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, RED 2, Man of Tai Chi, The Expendables and its sequel, and so much more. But going earlier in his work, one will see The Matrix, where he also took on the task of being Reeves’ stunt double.

They have worked rather closely since then and throughout The Matrix franchise. Apart from that, they also worked together in 2005 Constantine. Needless to say, the two know each other’s quirks in acting and directing, and they likely find it easy to collaborate creatively as well.

The Pursuit might just add another superpowered character to Keanu Reeves’ roster of roles. While it is unclear as to the above-average or superhuman abilities he will gain from the artefact, and the world might just witness an introduction of another hero with a not-so-tidy background.

It would be interesting to see the story behind the character, why he is put into that situation, or what led him to become a thief. They could go all drama of a revenge arc like in John Wick or just awesome chance like other heroes. We do wonder if there will be a comedic tone for the feature to mix things up a bit.

Lionsgate will be the studio to back the project and team up once again. With John Wick as their previous project, who would go against a new plan with the two of them highly involved in the development?
