More details come to light as reports now indicate that Jonathan Majors was the one who called 911 before authorities were required to arrest him. The New York Police Department arrested the Marvel actor last Saturday, March 25th, on charges of assault, strangulation and harassment.

While authority reports and publicly disclosed information of the incident’s documentation depict a story that readily hurt the actor’s reputation, investigations are still underway. As expected, Jonathan Majors’ legal representative Priya Chaudhry remains firm in stating that the actor is “entirely innocent”.

Online followers of the news surrounding Jonathan Majors’ alleged domestic dispute already formulate their own interpretation and impression of the events that transpired over the weekend. Meanwhile, there are also those who reserve their judgement while waiting for the proceedings to play out. An update from Deadline states that it was Jonathan Majors who called 911 on that eventful Saturday night. After this, authorities removed Jonathan Majors from the residence. Hours later, he faced a judge for his arraignment. According to a statement from the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information:

A preliminary investigation determined that a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old female. The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.

The report also cited that the actor called 911 over an alleged domestic dispute. Defense Attorney Chaudhry stated:

Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.

She listed the evidence they are preparing to include:

…video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations.

Some experts say that once they are successful in presenting this said evidence, all of the charges that Jonathan Majors is facing will go away. However, at the moment, the actor is scheduled to appear before the court on May 8th to defend his side against the allegations.

New York Domestic Violence Law provides a temporary order of protection that prohibits the defendant from committing criminal offences against a family or household member or a child. For those who were wondering why the police would be required to make an arrest, it is under the principle that parties involved in domestic violence need to be separated from each other.

In one of the anonymous comments, they indicated that there is the need to separate the individuals so that each can speak without fear of later violence, threat or intimidation to silence themselves in favour of the other party. This is because, in the past, almost all the time, victims would fear pressing charges because of the impending worst-case scenario.

The comment also mentioned that false statements happen all the time but at least police intervention will give the opportunity for all the parties to state their version of what happened.

Lawyer Chaudhry already stated that their team had written documents retracting previous statements from the woman. Also, the video she mentioned would likely show actual moments recounted without bias. At the moment, it is the woman’s statements which are getting most of the coverage.

However, the fact that it was Majors who called 911 could be evidence in itself to a certain capacity that proves his sound judgement. As of now, there are an increasing number of commenters placing their judgement against Majors as well as those who reserve their comments until the investigation is over. Some are also expecting either a confirmation of the trial or all the charges to be lifted.

One thing is for certain, Jonathan Majors’ reputation is being tainted due to these ongoing proceedings. What do you think of the fact that Jonathan Majors called 911 in the first place? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
