It’s been revealed that John Wick 5 is on the table over at Lionsgate after John Wick: Chapter 4’s huge success at the box office in both the United States and internationally.

The movie has been doing very, very well at the box office, and everybody seems to have loved the movie. I know that I loved it!

We posted our review of Chapter 4, and to cut a rather long review short, I thought the movie was just perfect. I really struggled to think of anything that I didn’t like about the film.

I thought it was inventive, exhilarating, fun, funny in parts and really hard-hitting in others. Just a perfect action movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate is very much interested in making a fifth John Wick movie. They want to make as many John Wick movies with Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski as they can.

This was revealed by Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Joe Drake. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

We’re all going to take a tiny rest here and then scratch at ideas about whether there’s a credible way to get into five. But there’s no guarantee.

Making a fifth instalment in the John Wick movie franchise won’t be easy, especially since Keanu Reeves’ character seemingly died at the end of the fourth movie. Sorry, spoilers.

However, Lionsgate’s Drake told The Hollywood Reporter that a John Wick 5 is no longer out of the question. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

There’s a will and there’s an openness. And you could certainly interpret that ending in different ways. We’re all going to take a tiny rest here and then scratch at ideas about whether there’s a credible way to get into five. But there’s no guarantee.

The thing about the fifth movie is that it seems as though Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski were pretty certain that the character was dead at the end of Chapter 4. However, the John Wick movies’ director, Chad Stahelski, had previously considered making the fourth and fifth films back to back, but the idea was scrapped once the ending of Chapter 4 was decided upon. Drake had this to say on the matter:

Keanu and Chad, rightly so, are very protective about never screwing with the audience. So we certainly have our work cut out for us. … Keanu is so beloved and that character is so beloved; that’s not lost on him.

Will they make more movies in this franchise?

Even though Reeves’ character supposedly died in John Wick 4, we will get to see him play the role at least one more time in the not-so-distant future. It was revealed that he will be coming back in the upcoming John Wick spinoff movie, Ballerina.

That movie is going to star Ana De Armas and I’m really excited to see it. It was revealed that the likes of Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston and the late Lance Reddick also star in the film. The movie is expected to hit theatres next year and takes place between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4. The film is directed by Len Wiseman.

Here’s what Drake had to say about the upcoming Ballerina movie:

He is in Ballerina, interestingly, in a very strategic way. And we’re talking about a couple of others that he could certainly participate in. I know that Chad has a bunch of really cool ideas.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is playing in cinemas right now.
