James Gunn Wants A Marvel And DC Crossover Film

James Gunn has expressed enthusiasm for the idea of what would officially be one of the coolest cross-over films ever: a Marvel and DC crossover film.

As per CinemaBlend, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad has floated the idea of a Marvel-DC crossover film to the bosses of both studios.

While he is open to numerous possible cross-over films featuring characters from Marvel and DC, Gunn hinted at two that he’d love to see in a film together: Harley Quinn and Groot.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, the director said:

I would really be happy to do a Harley Quinn and Groot movie. Not only have I thought about that, but I have actually talked about that to the heads of both Marvel and DC. It’s like everybody’s open to everything, but whether anything would ever happen, who knows?

While initial reports suggested that Gunn was talking solely about a Harley/Groot crossover, the director has since clarified in a tweet that he was talking more generally about the possibility of a Marvel/DC mashup.

With Harley and Groot being two of the most popular characters in their respective franchises, the idea of them teaming up together in a film is is an absolutely amazing concept.

However, due to the vast amount of negotiations that would need to take place for such a film to become a reality, a crossover seems an extremely ambitious idea at this moment in time.

Though given Gunn has now worked with both Marvel and DC, and has a seemingly good relationship with both studios, let’s hope that Gunn is involved if a crossover film ever came to fruition.
