James Gunn Confirms The Suicide Squad’s Cut Is Complete

James Gunn has confirmed that the cut of his upcoming The Suicide Squad movie is complete during his film’s panel at CCXP Worlds. However, he did also add that the VFX and music weren’t done yet.

We, and many other DC Comics movie fans out there, have been desperately waiting for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. When it was revealed that he would be directing a DC Comics movie, many people – myself included – just couldn’t believe it.

Really? The man who gave us Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and 2 was going to be making a Suicide Squad movie? It was just too good to even contemplate. Then there was the question of whether it would be a sequel of David Ayer’s movie or a reboot? Well, it sounds like it’s going to be a sort of combination of both, which is pretty exciting.

Gunn’s movie will take some of the characters and actors from the first movie, but put them in a very different situation and has added a whole incredible selection of other characters played by some brilliant actors. Sounds like the kind of Suicide Squad movie we all wanted from the very beginning.

So, James Gunn was speaking at this weekend’s CCXP Worlds panel about his upcoming DC Comics movie, and that was when he revealed that the cut of the movie was finished. He went on to add that they are currently working on the visual effects and the movie’s music.

I have been wondering what sort of soundtrack Gunn’s film will have. His Guardians movies had brilliant soundtracks, whereas David Ayer’s Suicide Squad’s music didn’t quite work. Now, I do not believe for a second that that was Ayer’s decision. I think that movie was completely changed by the studio.

However, Gunn demonstrated that with his Guardians films you can put pop music into a movie and make it work. He basically made the music part of the plot, which was really clever. Fingers crossed he’ll do a similar thing with The Suicide Squad.
