James Bond Producer Says The Next Bond Actor Does Not Need To Be A White Man

Who’s going to be the next James Bond actor? We don’t know. However, Barbara Broccoli has revealed that it doesn’t have to be a white man.

It was supposedly revealed a while back that Tom Hardy was going to be playing Bond after Daniel Craig.

However, those rumours have still not been confirmed.

We’re probably not going to find out who’s going to the next actor to play James Bond until after No Time To Die’s finally come to cinemas.

At the moment, the movie is slated for an April 2nd, 2021 release.

Hopefully, they’ll be able to stick to that date.

Anyway, James Bond movies producer, Barbara Broccoli has been talking about who could be the next Bond.

This was when she said that the next actor to play the role doesn’t have to be a white man.

Here’s what Broccoli told Total Film about who could play Bond next:

I always say: you can only be in love with one person at a time. Once the film’s come out, then some time will pass, and then we’ll have to get on to the business of the future. But for now, we just cannot think about anything beyond Daniel. It will have to be reimagined, in the way each actor has reimagined the role. That’s what is so exciting and fun about this franchise; the character evolves. Eventually, when we have to think about it, we’ll find the right person.

Broccoli then said:

He doesn’t need to be a white man. Not as far as I’m concerned.

The James Bond character should remain as written. Any other operative could be a woman or person of color, but not this character. All ionic personalities should remain as originally envisioned or portrayed. O07 was written as a Caucasian Brit (Scottish or Welch?) and should remain so. Start a movie series with 008 with anyone else and we’ll love them, I’m sure, just not Bond…James Bond.

Have your say...
