Iron Man Could Still Return In The MCU Says Robert Downey Jr

Robert Downey Jr. is no longer playing Iron Man. It was a sad moment in Avengers: Endgame to see him wave goodbye to his time in the MCU, but it was also very well done as far as I’m concerned.

However, it seems as though Robert Downey Jr. might not turn down the possibility of returning to the MCU as Iron Man in the future.

Downey Jr. basically started the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Without him playing Tony Stark in the very first Iron Man movie, I highly doubt the franchise would be where it is today.

Yet, Avengers: Endgame was Tony Stark’s last stand and it was a perfect way to say, ‘so long and thank you for all the good times’ to Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, Susan Downey were talking to Extra promoting their new movie, Doolittle, and the conversation ended up moving onto to Robert’s time as Iron Man.

He was asked whether he could ever return as Iron Man, and his reply was basically not at the moment but never-say-never.

Sounds like Robert Downey Jr. might want to return as Iron Man

“Yeah, anything could happen. I’m really enjoying…” he began, and that was when Susan interrupted her husband, and he ended up changing his tune pretty drastically.

“Oh my God. What a headline that little comment’s going to be,” Susan interjected as they all started to laugh.

However, Robert then revised his answer and told Extra’s reporter the following:

As far as I’m concerned, I hung up my guns and I’m good to let it go. I also think Marvel is on this journey now and they’re trying a bunch of other stuff, and I’m excited for them to see how all that goes. It’s hard to project.

It sounds like Robert might like to return to the MCU at some point, but not right now.

Would you like to see Robert Downey Jr. return as Iron Man in the future?
