Harvey Weinstein Will Die In Prison If Not Freed Says His Lawyers

Harvey Weinstein’s lawyers have claimed the disgraced Hollywood film producer might die in prison very soon if he’s not freed.

“[Weinstein’s] physical and mental condition has so deteriorated, I do not think it’s an overstatement to say that if he is not released as part of this application, his chances of surviving in prison are rather low,” Barry Kamins, one of Weinstein’s lawyer, told Judge Angela Mazzarelli during a virtual hearing in the Appellate Division First Department.

This was reported by Page Six.

However, the lawyer wasn’t quite done.

“The defendant is almost blind, and he’s not ambulatory, and he’s on 20 medications,” said Kamins.

He added that that Weinstein is now wheelchair-bound.

Weinstein’s lawyer then went on to list the former Hollywood producer’s many medical conditions.

His medical conditions included diabetic retinopathy, coronary artery disease and spinal stenosis, or pressure on his back nerves, which causes a dragging foot.

Weinstein is serving a 23-year sentence at Wende Correctional Facility near Buffalo.

Weinstein was not present on the video call.

His lawyers had previously applied for $2 million bail which is pending the outcome of Weinstein’s appeal of his case.

Weinstein’s appeal has yet to be filed.

His lawyer also claimed that his client has no money. According to him, he’s broke.

“He is not a man of any means at this point,” Kamins told the judge.

“He has no money,” he added.

But “friends of his can put up the money,” the lawyer revealed.
