George Lucas Rumoured To Be More Involved In The Mandalorian Season 3

The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 6 Chapter 14 Grogu Mando Robert Rodriguez

It’s now being rumoured that George Lucas is going to be much more involved in The Mandalorian Season 3, which is interesting to say the least. This rumour comes from Daniel Richtman over on his Patreon page.

As I tend to say with most things that come from Daniel Richtman, do take what he says with a big pinch of salt. The reason I’m saying this in particular with the supposed news that Lucas is going to be more involved with The Mandalorian Season 3 is because he hasn’t been involved with any of the Star Wars projects since he sold the rights to Disney.

Why, you ask? Well, it’s because Disney is now fully in control, and also Lucas hasn’t really wanted to be involved in the new Star Wars stuff. That said, he has visited sets and has given his opinion and guidance on certain things Star Wars.

Is George Lucas really going to be “more involved” in The Mandalorian Season 3…?

It has been rumoured that one of the properties he’s been most “involved with” has been The Mandalorian. He went on the set of the first and second season and was reportedly very taken with Baby Yoda (aka Grogu), as everyone has been. However, I’m not so sure that bringing him in to be “more involved” in Season 3 of the Star Wars live-action TV show is necessarily a good thing.

By all means, ask him for input. Ask Lucas what he thinks of certain plot developments and things like that. But I think that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni might want to keep Lucas at an arm’s length from the show. The reason being, because they’re telling a different sort of story to the ones told before. They’re doing something new, and yes, they are leaning on old stuff too, yet they’re doing it all the right way.
