Doctor Strange 2 Cut R-Rated Scene Revealed

Elizabeth-Olsen-Expects-To-Return-As-Scarlet-Witch-In-The-MCU

Doctor Strange 2 (Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness) was a pretty fun ride, and one of the best aspects of the movie, to me at least, was seeing Elizabeth Olsen have a lot of fun playing a villainous Scarlet Witch. There were some pretty awesome scenes involving her character decimating magicians and superheroes. However, there was going to be even more cool stuff, and some of it was going to be pretty darn gruesome.

This awesome scene that was cut from the movie’s theatrical release was going to see the Scarlet Witch tear through even more magicians, and it was going to be a very bloody and violent fight. This was revealed by Liang Stunts on Instagram, who worked on many of the stunts and the choreography that ended up in the movie’s theatrical release. You can look at what this R-rated scene would look like in the video below.

Here’s what they wrote in the video’s caption:

An extended sequence we created that was not included in the final edit of the battle between Scarlet Witch Kamar Taj Warriors. Camera by: Liang Yang. After Effect by: @junyi_33 and Andrei Nazarenko @adambrashaw. Stunts Rigging by: @darylandrews1978. Performers: @fizzlewizz Andy Lister, @jamescoxstuntman @jamesodalystunts @lukazleong Andrei Nazarenko @daciocaballerostunts @karanjayorke and JP.

It’s such a shame to see such a well-choreographed scene not end up in the movie’s theatrical release. However, it does have to be said that I’m not surprised at all to see Marvel Studios opt to cut this particular scene. The scene was just too violent, and it might not have ended up being as bloody as the scene in the video posted above, but it was still probably have been too hard-hitting for a Marvel Studios theatrical release.

This R-rated cut scene seemed awesome!

The movie was directed by Sam Raimi, who came in to replace Scott Derrickson after he left the project due to “creative differences”. Raimi is probably one of the best horror directors of all time and in many ways started this incredible Hollywood superhero movie era that we are currently in. He directed the three Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies. His first two Spider-Man movies were brilliant. I was so excited when I heard that Marvel Studios had somehow managed to get Raimi to agree to direct the Doctor Strange sequel.

Whilst watching the film, you could see Raimi’s fingerprints all over it. However, I would have liked a bit more of that sort of stuff in the movie’s theatrical release. This action set piece did feel like a Sam Raimi action set piece. The way the camera moved was very Sam Raimi, and I think that was done deliberately. It’s such a shame that the scene didn’t end up in the movie’s final cut, but we are getting some more interesting stuff coming in the MCU, such as the Werewolf By Night Halloween special and the Blade movie.
