It’s been revealed that Disney Plus actually got the MCU’s timeline wrong and had put Black Panther in the wrong place.
It was revealed that Black Widow had been put ahead of Black Panther in the MCU timeline on Disney Plus (via ComicBook).
This is, of course, now the chronological order of the MCU and the mistake was eventually rectified by Disney Plus, but it took them a while to spot the mistake.
The service recently updated the order to flip the two titles, saying that Black Widow actually took place first.
Interestingly enough, both films took place a few days after the events of Captain America: Civil War.
However, Black Widow was set just a few days before the events on Black Panther.
Disney Plus then rectified its MCU movie timeline mixup
Here’s the official order of the MCU timeline following Disney’s update:
- Captain America: The First Avenger
- Captain Marvel
- Iron Man
- Iron Man 2
- Marvel’s The Avengers
- Thor: The Dark World
- Iron Man 3
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
- Avengers: Age of Ultron
- Captain America: Civil War
- Black Widow
- Black Panther
- Doctor Strange
- Thor: Ragnarok
- Ant-Man and the Wasp
- Avengers: Infinity War
- Avengers: Endgame
- Marvel’s What If…?
- The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
- Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
