Disney Reportedly Want Guillermo Del Toro To Direct A Live-Action Atlantis: The Lost Empire Remake

There is a rumour suggesting that Disney is looking as Guillermo Del Toro to direct a live-action remake of Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

There is so much that I love about this rumour.

I really hope this is true.

Anyway, it comes from Daniel Ritchman’s sources, so we shouldn’t get too excited about it.

However, it just seems to make so much sense to me.

Disney has been making these live-action remakes for a while now.

However, there isn’t really too much to gain from making live-action remakes of The Lion King and Mulan.

Disney should explore their other, less well-known movies more and make something with them.

One of those movies is Atlantis: The Lost Empire, which is brilliant, but not too many people saw it when it came out.

Anyway, the serial insider scooper claims that Disney is looking at Guillermo Del Toro to direct this remake.

I do love this idea because Del Toro is one of my very favourite directors or all time.

I love each and every one of his movies – even Pacific Rim.

Ritchman also claims that Disney is also interested in getting the Russo Brothers to direct.

That idea I’m less excited about, yet it does make sense since Disney and the Russos have a very good relationship.

If this Atlantis: The Lost Empire remake does get made, I think it would be more likely that Disney went with the Russo Brothers rather than Del Toro.

Del Toro likes to make his own stuff – Hellboy and Pacific Rim movies notwithstanding.

That said, is Disney was to give him a lot of room to do whatever he wanted with the movie, then we might have a real winner on our hands.
