Do any of you remember the Constatine movie in which Keanu Reeves played John Constatine? Well, it turns out that Warner Bros. Pictures might be looking to reboot the film.
The movie came out back in 2005 and starred Keanu Reeves as John Constantine, an occult detective, and the film was a bit of a dud.
The movie was based on a comic book character who was created by Alan Moore and first seen in his Swamp Thing run.
They then expanded the character into his own comic book series, Hellblazer, which is really good.
The movie then came out and it was directed by a guy called Francis Lawrence and starred Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Djimon Hounsou alongside Reeves.
One of the big problems I had to with the movie was that Reeves was completely wrong for the role.
I love Keanu Reeves. I think he’s great. However, he’s not good for John Constantine. First off, the character’s meant to be British.
Do we need a Constantine reboot?
Secondly, he has pretty bright blonde hair. Thirdly, Keanu played the role really straight, and there’s quite a lot of humour to Constantine in the comics.
I think Matt Ryan’s version of Constantine in The CW DC Comics TV shows is much better and more in-line with Alan Moore’s vision of the character.
That said, I wouldn’t have Ryan star as Constantine in the movie.
According to We Got This Covered’s sources, Warner Bros. Pictures is considering rebooting the Constantine movie franchise in a similar way to how Fox rebooted Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds.
The media outlet also reported that Warner Bros. Pictures is thinking of asking Keanu Reeves to play the role again, and I’m not so sure that’s the best move.
What do you think about this? Would you like to see Constantine rebooted with Keanu Reeves back as the lead? Let us know in the comments below.
