Chris Evans Has Not Plans To Continue Playing Captain America After Avengers 4

Chris Evans has confirmed in an interview that he won’t be playing Captain America and will be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers 4.

Chris Evans has done something remarkable as Captain America – a.k.a Steve Rogers. If you take a step back and look to look at the comic book character objectively, he’s quite dull, kind of like Marvel’s answer to Superman. I know some people might get upset hearing that, but it’s true. Captain America is often referred to as a boy scout. He stands for everything that’s good about the United States of America. But that does make him quite boring, and before Evans took on the role, I’m sure many of you, and many of the people behind the first Captain America movie were a bit worried about this fact.

That said, Evans portrayed the goodie-two-shoes superhero in such a way that made him very compelling. He’s a natural born leader and a character that people can look up to, yet he also has a slightly darker, more tormented side – most of this relating to his rather depressing love life. Anyhow, it looks like Evans might be nearing the end of his time playing the character.

During an interview with The New York Times, Evans admitted that he has no plans to continue playing Captain America after the fourth Avengers movie, which was going to be called Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2, but that’s no longer the case. When asked about his plans with the MCU, the actor replied: “You want to get off the train before they push you off,” confirming that Avengers 4 will be the last time we’re going to see him as Captain America.

This begs the question: who will take his place? Will it be Bucky? Could it be Sam Wilson – a.k.a. The Flacon? Could it be Sharon Carter? Could it be someone we haven’t met yet…? The fact that actors like Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. will eventually leave the MCU is undeniable. They can’t keep on doing this forever. However, are people ready to say goodbye yet? Possibly not, but I’m pretty sure that we’ll be saying goodbye to at least one of the Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War is coming to UK cinemas on April 27th, 2018. Not too long to wait now!
