WARNING: There are MAJOR SPOILERS for The Mandalorian Season 2’s finale in this article. You’ve been warned.

The Mandalorian Season 2’s finale recently aired on Disney Plus, and it’s now being rumoured that Bo-Katan will end up being the villain in The Mandalorian Season 3.

Season 2’s finale might be remembered for Luke Skywalker turning up at the end and cutting through a bunch of Dark Troopers in a corridor. It was an incredible scene, and he ended up taking Grogu, which opens up the question of whether Baby Yoda is one of his padawans to be murdered by Kylo Ren.

I don’t think that will happen, but let’s wait and see for The Mandalorian Season 3 to see what goes on between Grogu and Luke Skywalker. However, what I’m thinking is that Bo-Katan will end up being the villain of The Mandalorian Season 3. Why, you ask? Because of the Darksaber.

One of the other things to have happened in this finale is Din Djarin beat Moff Gideon in battle and disarmed him. He is now the owner of the Darksaber and therefore the leader of Mandalore, not Bo-Katan.

We know that Bo-Katan’s whole mission was to get the Darksaber back from Moff Gideon so that she could go back and be the leader of Mandalore again. However, what she didn’t plan for was Din Djarin to end up with the Darksaber. Din did offer her the sword, but it was revealed by Moff Gideon that she had to win it in battle.

Some of you might be saying, “But she accepted it when Sabine Wren ended up with the Darksaber and offered it to her in Star Wars Rebels!” And, yes, you’d be right. However, I think circumstances have changed, and probably because of Moff Gideon. It seems to me that he managed to beat Bo-Katan in battle, which is how he ended up with it. Therefore, the only way she can reclaim it is if she won it back. It wouldn’t look good for her as the potential leader of Mandalore if she’s never actually won the sword in battle.

I believe it’s an honour and pride thing, which is very important to the Mandalorians. She will not be accepted as the leader of Mandalore should she just take the Darksaber from Din. She needs to win it in battle. She needs to beat Din in battle to reclaim it and then hopefully, in her mind, her fellow Mandalorians will be able to accept her as their leader again.

So, with this in mind, I believe she is going to be going after Din and will try to defeat him, and she’ll do everything within her power to defeat our favourite Mandalorian in battle. It could end up getting very, very ugly, and Bo-Katan is not someone to be messed with.
