Animaniacs Revival Slammed By Viewers For ‘Disgusting’ And ‘Sick’ Johnny Depp Joke

The Animaniacs revival series ended up being heavily criticised by people after there was a joke about Johnny Depp in a recent episode. Some people called this joke “disgusting” and “sick” and were generally shocked by its poor taste.

This all comes after Johnny Depp lost his trial against The Sun in the UK courts. He was suing The Sun for libel after they labelled the actor as a “wife-beater” in one of their articles (written by Dan Wootton).

The judge ended up ruling in favour of The Sun, and Johnny Depp was then asked to step down from the role of Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3. A recent episode of Animaniacs then made fun of the actor, and viewers really didn’t appreciate it.

So, what was the joke, I hear you ask? Well, it was a movie poster behind one of the characters that had a picture of Johnny Depp on it with the movie title: “Johnny 2: Telling Lies”. I’m going to be honest here, this isn’t a very clever joke.

If they really wanted to say something about the whole Johnny Depp case, they could have come up with something a bit less in your face. Being subtle is often the best form of comedy.

That said, this really isn’t something they should be making fun of in a show like Animaniacs, especially when it’s crass and poorly done like it was in this episode.

People really weren’t happy about it, and honestly, I’m on their side as far as this is concerned. I’m pretty sure Johnny Depp and his lawyers wouldn’t have appreciated it either.

I was shocked and disgusted that WB would mock a male survivor off Domestic Violence. London Court was held by a judge who should of declined presiding over the libel case; given the personal connection to defense. The evidence that Johnny wasn’t isn’t the aggressor is all over the internet for people to see and hear. WB being in debt making the awful joke can it really help them. I don’t think so.

AMBER HEARD is guilty of domestic violence against Johnny Depp. What lies did Depp tell? Then listen to the tapes and tell me what lies Amber Heard told. Disgusting an absolute disgrace. SHAME ON YOU.

I appreciate that the author also did not find this funny. No. It was not funny. Being a DV survivor and being gaslighted by the real abuser, Amber Heard, watching her get away with it and the media gaslighting us as well is actually pretty traumatic.
