It’s been revealed that the upcoming Ahsoka series, which is coming to Disney Plus, is going to explore new territories in the Star Wars universe that we’ve never seen or read about before. This news comes to us via Making Star Wars. They are reporting that the series will see Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn end up in a new area called either ‘The New Beyond’ or ‘The New Space’.

That’s really interesting because we’ve never seen this new area in the previous Star Wars movies, TV shows, video games, books or comic books. Making Star Wars’ report describes this new territory as “a completely new and unexplored area of the Star Wars universe.” That, I think, is pretty darn interesting, and it’s about time that we see Star Wars visit new planets and new territories in the large galaxy.

Moreover, it’s being reported that this territory is inhabited by beings who perceive the Force differently than traditional Star Wars characters. Making Star Wars’ report suggests that magic users outcast by these societies have appeared in other stories, with some indicators pointing to Ivanna Sakhno playing a Nightsister or Lightsister in Ahsoka. Diana Lee Inosanto’s Morgan Elsbeth also hails from this realm and is said to be appearing in the series.

Added to this, Making Star Wars also states in their report that Lars Mikkelsen will be portraying the live-action Thrawn, a continuation of the role he voiced in Star Wars: Rebels. This is news that we broke ages ago and Mikkelsen is perfect for the role.

Star Wars is in a very interesting place at the moment, especially after the release of Andor on Disney Plus. That show really demonstrated that we can and should expect something different from our Star Wars movies and TV shows. The show was much more thoughtful and took things at a much slower pace, which I really appreciated.

This new Ahsoka series is set to start streaming on Disney Plus in 2023.
