Werewolf By Night was going to have a pretty big cameo from a very popular Marvel Comics character. It’s been revealed that Mahershala Ali was going to cameo in the upcoming Halloween special as Blade. However, it ended up not happening due to reported scheduling conflicts, which is just such a shame.

This news actually comes to us via The Weekly Planet podcast. During the podcast in their ‘Hot Scoop, Shot Of Poop’ segment, they revealed that there was a planned appearance by Mahershala Ali as Blade, but according to their sources, it didn’t end up happening because of Ali’s busy filming schedule and he just couldn’t fit the cameo into it. The Weekly Planet co-host, James Clement, then revealed that this cameo was going to involve a “monster hunter” going to a “monster house” and that the stories would have lined up well for the character.

This upcoming Halloween MCU special is going to be an hour-long, and it’s actually going to be connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) based off of the comic book series of the same name. We got to see the Halloween special’s first trailer during Marvel’s presentation at this year’s D23 Expo. The trailer was bloody brilliant, and we also found out that the special had been directed by Michael Giacchino.

The special will star Gael Bernal Garcia, who’s going to be playing the special’s lead, Jack Russell. He’s the one who ends up turning in the titular Marvel character. It’s going to be a really interesting special to watch, and I, for one, cannot wait to see it. As for Russell, he can become a werewolf and is able to maintain most of his faculties. He will be joined by Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone and Harriet Sansom Harris as Verusa among others. They will be part of a larger group of monster hunters in the movie.

Will Blade be an MCU movie worth watching?

The Halloween special was written by Peter Cameron and Heather Quinn. As for Ali’s Blade, it has been revealed that the Blade movie is going to start filming in October. So, we’re not going to have to wait very long before we finally get to see Blade join the MCU. However, we have technically already heard Blade in the MCU. His voice was heard in The Eternals during the post-credit scene when Kit Harrington’s Dane Whitman comes upon the Ebony Blade, and we hear Blade’s voiceover.

That was Ali’s voice we heard in the post-credits scene. This scene nicely sets up the character officially joining the MCU. However, he won’t be in the upcoming Halloween Marvel special, yet, I’m pretty sure that we’re going to be seeing a lot more of Ali’s Blade in upcoming MCU projects. The Blade movie is set to hit theatres on November 3rd, 2023.

As for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Halloween special will be released on Disney Plus on October 7th. This will be the first of Marvel’s new initiative to include one-off specials as part of their offerings, and this movie will nicely fit in within the MCU’s continuity of shows and movies.
