Stephen Amell Reveals He Offered To Return In Arrow Season 9

Stephen Amell has revealed that he offered to return as Oliver Queen in Arrow Season 9. Before you go asking yourselves why, it all had to do with the COVID-19 pandemic.

He revealed this during a recent appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast Inside Of You, and also added that the showrunner, Greg Berlanti thought he was joking to begin with.

During the podcast, Amell explained how the COVID-19 pandemic meant that American actors couldn’t cross the border into Canada. This meant that they couldn’t film much of the show because many of their actors are from the United States, and live there too.

Amell is Canadian and lives there too, which meant that he could have filmed stuff for the show when other actors couldn’t. The likes of Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist weren’t able to film for their respective The CW shows because of the pandemic and the fact they were able to cross the border.

Here’s what Stephen Amell told Michael Rosenbaum during their conversation:

I called Greg up and said just that. I said, ‘Look, I hope this doesn’t happen, but if everything goes to sh*t and you guys can’t get actors up here because of issues about mostly American actors crossing into Canada, and if things can’t be figured out, here’s the deal man. I’m here and if I have to stay here, I want to work. If I’m going to work, let’s just figure out a way to bring Oliver back from the dead.’

Amell then revealed that Berlanti at first thought he was joking, but he stressed that his offer was genuine.

I go, ‘Yeah, of course, I’m f**king serious. Again, I hope it doesn’t happen. But, can we at least put it on the radar.’
