There’s a new Star Wars series in the works for Disney Plus which will feature a female lead and will be made by Russian Doll co-creator.
This news comes from Variety who also revealed that this new Star Wars show will be headed up by Leslye Headland.
Headland was one of the creators of Netflix’s Russian Doll which is an incredible show.
She will write and serve as showrunner on the upcoming Star Wars series.
It’ll also be coming to Disney Plus and will bolster their lineup of Star Wars line-up shows.
So far they have The Mandalorian, however, they’re also working on a Cassian Andor show and an Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
It looks like Lucasfilm and Disney really want to get cracking on these Star Wars TV shows.
A new female-led Star Wars series is coming to Disney Plus
Not much is known about this upcoming Star Wars series apart from that it’ll feature a female lead.
It’s also been reported that this will stand apart from the rest of the Star Wars universe.
It won’t be attached to any previous Star Wars properties and will take place in “a different part of the Star Wars timeline than other projects.”
It’s about time that Lucasfilm explores new areas of the Star Wars galaxy.
