Jon Bernthal Is Going To Play The Punisher In The MCU

It was a rather sad moment when Netflix confirmed that the cancelled The Punisher after just two seasons, and it wasn’t a decision that Marvel fans were very pleased with, but this news might make them smile, since there are now rumours that Jon Bernthal might be reprising the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Jon Bernthal was arguably one of the best things about the Marvel TV shows on Netflix. He’s literally perfect for the role of The Punisher and was brilliant in the series.

I’d say that the casting was the best thing about those Netflix Marvel TV shows. Bernthal, Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones were all perfectly cast and they each had some truly memorable moments.

Personally, I’d love to see all of them return as their characters in the MCU, and there are rumours that it could happen in the very near future.

One of the things that really used to annoy me about the TV shows was that they were never truly brought into the MCU and they never mentioned anything that happened in the movies apart from what they called ‘The Event’.

So, back to Jon Bernthal. This rumour comes from one of We Got This Covered’s sources claimed: “Bernthal is 100% returning as the Punisher and will appear in future Marvel Studios productions.”

If this does turn out to be true, then it would make the fans of the show very happy indeed. I can’t really think of any actor more suited for the role than Bernthal.

Simply put, he’s perfect as the character and deserves to be given a shot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
