Indiana Jones 5 Wont Be A Reboot And Harrison Ford Is Returning

So, Indiana Jones 5 is happening and it looks like Harrison Ford will be returning one last time.

He’s getting pretty old to be galavanting around the globe after some magical artefacts. This had people wondering whether Lucasfilm would opt to reboot the franchise.

However, it seems as though Indiana Jones 5 will not be a reboot and will feature Harrison Ford back in the iconic hat.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy recently spoke to BBC reporters (via Collider) on the red carpet at the BAFTAS

During this impromptu interview, she told reporters that Indiana Jones 5 would be a continuation of the franchise. She stipulated that it wouldn’t be a reboot.

“We’re working away, getting the script where we want it to be and then we’ll be ready to go,” she began.

She then added: “Harrison Ford will be involved, yeah. It’s not a reboot; it’s a continuation.”

Production on Indiana Jones 5 has been very slow. It was back in 2015 when Kathleen Kennedy revealed to Vanity Fair that the movie was in the works.

However, we haven’t heard much about the movie since.

Will Indiana Jones 5 actually get made?

I supposed Lucasfilm has been rather tied up with the Star Wars franchise.

There’s also the fact that the last movie in the Indiana Jones franchise, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, didn’t go down too well.

This means that they’ll want to make very sure that this fifth movie is the real deal. There’s so much we don’t know about this film.

Will Steven Spielberg return to the direct? Will George Lucas be involved at all?

Given what happened when the two of them reunited on the last film, I think Lucas might not be back.

Perhaps the best thing is for Lucasfilm to introduce some new blood into the property.

That said, the film is still slated for release on July 9th, 2021. Spielberg is also still down to direct the film, yet his schedule is looking incredibly busy.

Who do you think should direct Indiana Jones 5 is Speilberg can’t do it?
