Henry Cavill Reveals He’d Love To Play James Bond Post-Daniel Craig

Back in 2006, it was reported that there were two contenders to play James Bond in Casino Royale: Daniel Craig and Henry Cavill.

The role eventually went to Craig and he’s been an excellent Bond.

Cavill’s gone on to have a fine career of his own. He was cast as Superman, starred in movies like Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Justice League and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Most recently, Henry Cavill has won over a lot of people with his portrayal of Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix series, The Witcher.

I’ve been very vocal about my admiration for Cavill’s work.

I often thought the actor got treated unfairly by critics and people in the media.

He’s a fascinating screen presence, and it’s not just because of his impressive physique.

I thought he did an excellent job in Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

I loved that movie and I loved his performance in it.

Anyway, Cavill was talking to Men’s Health recently, and during this interview he opened up about James Bond.

He spoke about his audition for the role and whether he’d like to play 007 in the future.

“With the whole Bond process, I screen-tested many, many moons ago and it was, as far as I know, down to Daniel and myself – maybe one other,” Cavill revealed.

“I think Daniel – sorry, Mr Craig – has done an incredible job of being Bond. And if it is indeed his last one, then the playing field is open.

“There are no conversations just yet, but we’ll see what happens. It would be a great, fun role to play.”

That sounds super interesting to me.

I’d love to see Cavill play Bond, but I know he wouldn’t be a popular choice.

However, Cavill’s got loads of other projects in the pipeline and he opened up about them during the interview with Men’s Health.

“Henry 2.0 is coming in the next year,” he stated.

He continued: “I am in the frustrating position of never being able to tell anyone about what jobs I’m doing.

“It’s annoying for me, so it must be incredibly frustrating for you.”

The British actor then opened up about those rumours that his days playing Superman in the DCEU are done.

He was keen to stress that we shouldn’t believe everything we read.

Henry Cavill is still the perfect man to play Superman

“I can’t tell you anything concrete there, either,” Cavill began.

“But what I can tell you is that, in reference to me, 99% of what you’re reading on the internet probably isn’t right. I can’t say anything, obviously. But I very much love the character, and I am very much not walking away from it.”

This makes it sound like Cavill is not saying goodbye to the Superman role, which I am very happy to hear.

He’s the perfect Superman – I’ve said this time and time again.

Cavill’s just been given very poor material to work with.

Give the man the right material, and he’d be the perfect Superman.

What do you think? Would you like to see Henry Cavill play James Bond?
