The trailer for Christopher Nolan’s next film, Dunkirk, has dropped on the web and it is fantastic! Check it out below.
When I think of Christopher Nolan, I think of a director who is working to move cinema forward. He’s easily one of the most talented directors around, and he’s proven this time and time again. First he dazzled us with films like Following, Memento and Insomnia, then he decided to take on the comic book genre with his film Batman Begins (still my favourite Batman movie). Then he gave us The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises and finally, Interstellar. He’s done almost everything, and always manages to put his mark on whichever genre he turns his hand to. I would describe Nolan as the modern day Alfred Hitchcock. Now he’s taking on the war movie genre, and more specifically World War II’s brutal battle at Dunkirk. Check out the trailer for Nolan’s new film, Dunkirk, below.
The enemy tanks have stopped. Why waste precious tanks when they can pick us off from the air like fish in a barrel?
There’s been a dearth of war movies in recent years. We’ve seen Fury, but apart from David Ayer’s film about Brad Pitt in a tank, we haven’t really had anything in a way of a full blown WAR movie. Not since Saving Private Ryan have we really seen the brutality of the Second World War onscreen, but judging by this trailer Nolan’s going to give us something very special. Dunkirk stars Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, James D’Arcy and oddly enough, One Direction’s Harry Styles (don’t judge until you’ve seen his performance).
Dunkirk will be in UK cinemas from July 21st, 2017.
