It’s fair to say that since its release on Tuesday, a certain Spidey (Spider-Man: No Way Home) trailer has pretty much broken the internet.
The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has smashed records to become the most viewed trailer ever.
Yet as reported by The Direct, Sony have reportedly removed a leaked set photo that shows Andrew Garfield on set as Spider-Man.
Sony clamping down hard on No Way Home leaks
Ever since No Way Home was announced, speculation has been rampant as to whether previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would reprise their roles.
A leaked set photo that purportedly showed both Garfield and Maguire on set surfaced online.
Sony has clamped down hard and has issued copyright notices to have the photo removed from social media.
The copyright strike was filed by Entura International, an anti-piracy enforcement agency working on behalf of Columbia Pictures/Sony.
It seems like it is one of Hollywood’s worst kept secrets that Maguire and Garfield will return.
If anything, Sony’s steps to have this photo taken down feel like proof enough that they will be suiting up once again.
I mean, if Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Willem Dafoe and Green Goblin are back, then surely Maguire would return as well?
Likewise for Garfield, given that Jamie Foxx is set to reprise his role as Electro, and possibly the Lizard as well.
In any case, we will know for sure when Spider-Man: No Way Home swings its way into cinemas on December 17.
