Star Trek: Picard To End With Season 3

Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard has just gotten underway on Amazon Prime/CBS and they have just wrapped production on Season 3 which has been confirmed to be the final season of the show.

The final series has been filming since August 2021 and has suffered a few delays due to COVID-19 shutdowns over the past 12 months, but this past Monday it was a ‘wrap’ on Star Trek: Picard Season 3.

One of the show’s writers, Christopher Monfette was first to confirm the news via Twitter in a tweet stating:

Then Jeri Ryan came along to further confirm beginning her tweet: “And just like that, it’s done, that’s a series wrap on #Star Trek Picard.”

The three-season arc is apparently the way it was ‘meant to be done’ and executive producer Terry Matalas in an interview with TrekMovie stated that the third season will be “incredibly different”.

He went on further to declare that it also features “possibly, one of the all-time great Star Trek villain performances we’ve seen to date”.

That’s a lot of anticipation and expectation with big shoes to fill with such an empathic statement, but we can’t imagine Patrick Stewart returned to the character of Jean Luc Picard unless it was going to be something special.
