Spider-Man: No Way Home concept art depicting Mysterio dueling with Doctor Strange has surfaced online.

As reported by Collider, the artwork by artist Andrew Reeder, sees the former Sorcerer Supreme battling with Quentin Beck.

The artwork suggests that Mysterio was possibly in contention to appear in the Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures film.

He could have potentially been the final member of the Sinister Six.

The artwork depicts the two dueling next to a Statue of Liberty undergoing renovations.

As anyone who has seen No Way Home will know, this is where the climatic battle in the third act took place.

A match up between these two would have been fascinating to watch.

However, given the amount of villains that were already in No Way Home, it is perhaps not surprising that the filmmakers chose to keep the total villains at five.

Was Mysterio going to be the main villain in Spider-Man: No Way Home?

But this raises the intriguing prospect that maybe Mysterio didn’t meet his end during Far From Home.

Might we see him in future MCU films, such as In the Multiverse of Madness?

I am probably reading too much into this.

Time will tell.
