It was revealed last week that Jamie Foxx was going to be returning to the Spider-Man universe in Spider-Man 3, but my sources have told me that he’s actually going to be playing Moon Knight, not Electro.
The Hollywood Reporter were the ones to break the story first.
However, they claimed that Jamie Foxx was returning as Electro, which I’ve been told by an insider source isn’t quite right.
According to my source, there were discussions to have him play Electro, however, Kevin Feige and Foxx were more interested in having the actor play Moon Knight.
I’ve been informed that Feige wants Foxx to cameo in Spider-Man 3 as Moon Knight, a.k.a. Marc Spector.
To be precise, my source told me that he would really be playing Marc Spector in the upcoming Spider-Man movie.
Unfortunately, the headline: “Jamie Foxx Will Be Playing Marc Spector In Spider-Man 3” won’t get as many clicks as the one I went with.
Yeah, I know. It’s a bit clickbaity, but it is technically correct.
Therefore, this cameo appearance in Spider-Man 3 would introduce audiences to the character and then lead into the Disney Plus Moon Knight series.
Jamie Foxx is playing Moon Knight in Spider-Man 3, not Electro
Jamie Foxx played Electro back in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie.
His performance as the character was not popular.
However, that was definitely not down to Foxx himself.
It was down to very poor writing and odd decisions they took for the character.
When The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Foxx was going to be in Spider-Man 3 and would be playing Electro in the movie, it was one of the most ‘WTF’ bits of casting news I can think of in recent memory.
The idea of Foxx playing Moon Knight makes much more sense and he’d be a great fit for the role.
It was also revealed that despite his new Marvel movie commitments, Foxx would still be starring in the Spawn movie.
Seems like he’s going to be pretty busy over the next few years.
What do you make of this news?
