Devil In Ohio Season 2 is something that fans of the new Netflix series have been asking for, and it’s something we’re going to be in looking into in this article. The first question we’ll try to answer is whether a season two of this new hit Netflix show is on the horizon. The second question that I know people will want an answer to is when a second season could be released on the streaming platform. Then, I’m sure that people will want to know about the second season’s cast, story and a whole lot more other stuff.
We will do our very best in this article to answer all those questions for you. However, I must warn you that not all of the answers are out there at the moment. That said, the minute we hear anything about Devil In Ohio Season 2, we will update this article accordingly.

Before we get into the weeds of whether season two is happening or not, we’re going to have to go over what this new series is all about. The first thing that we can start off with is the show’s official plot synopsis (courtesy of Netflix). So, here it is:
When hospital psychiatrist Dr. Suzanne Mathis shelters a mysterious cult escapee, her world is turned upside down as the strange girl’s arrival threatens to tear her own family apart.
The first season consists of eight episodes, each episode coming in at about one hour in length. And, I have to say that this series was gripping from start to finish. I really had a good time with it, but I have to say that I knew I was going to when I started watching the new series. It’s right up my street. Creepy vibes. Cults. Satanism. Murder… Precisely the kind of stuff I’m into. (Yes, that makes me sound weird, but judging by the show’s numbers on Netflix, so are a lot of other people out there.)
So, will a second season ever happen over at Netflix? Well, as the show is what’s known as a “limited series”, it does seem unlikely that we’ll ever get a second season. Limited series tend to be a one-and-done sort of thing. However, we have seen some limited series in the past get second seasons if the demand for one is there.
That said, this series is based on a book by Daria Polatin, and she seemed pretty adamant that the show ends in a similar way to the book. Here’s what she had to say on the matter during an interview with TV Insider:
It’s interesting to think where it might go, but for now it is just an all-in limited [series].
Daria then added the following statement:
We leave them in that moment because that’s a huge moment and there are different ways it can go. That’s what’s fun about it, too, as a conversation piece. I like to write stories that people can engage with and talk about and discuss, and so it’s a good question and it’s something fun for the audience to engage with as well in conversation. What would she do? What would you do? I like stories that encourage some interaction as a viewer as well, and I think this gives us that to stimulate conversations with people.
However, Netflix might see things differently with the show being such a captivating success with its subscribers. The series ended up being something of a surprise hit with audiences all over the world, and I’m sure they could find a way to do something with the story to get a second season out of it. The ending was pretty, well, let’s call it “open-ended”.
When could it be released?

Given that there’s no word yet on whether a second season is happening or not, it’s difficult to try and come up with a release date for Season 2, as there isn’t one yet. The first thing we need to know is whether Netflix will greenlight a second season, and I actually think that they will given how popular the first season was. Netflix needs more hits like Devil In Ohio, and I think that a second season would be very popular among viewers.
I know that viewers want to know more about what’s really going on in Ohio, and I won’t go into too many spoilers, but that ending just has you begging to know what’s going to happen next. So, if I were a betting man (I’m not), I would put money on us seeing a Devil In Ohio Season 2 sometime towards the end of 2023, or maybe the beginning of 2024.

As for who could come back for a second season, well, that’s not easy to predict either. One of the first names on the cast list would have to be Bones’ Emily Deschanel as Dr. Suzanne. The second name on the list would be To All The Boys’ Madeleine Arthur as the complicated and calculating Mae. Here are some other names who could return for a second season:
- Sam Jaeger as Peter
- Gerardo Celasco as Detective Lopez
- Xaria Dotson as Jules
- Tahmoh Penikett as Malachi
There were quite a few deaths and disappearances in the first season, so other names are much harder to predict. I’m sure that should they make a second season, we’d be more likely to see more new faces rather than old ones.

As for what could happen in a second season, well, the first season’s ending certain gave the writers a lot of room to play around in should Netflix give them the chance actually to work on a second season. One of the more exciting plot points to expand upon would be with Dr. Suzanne Mathis, who discovered she had been duped by the seemingly traumatised cult follower Mae.
Right, this is where we are getting in SPOILER territory for the end of Season 1. So, if you haven’t watched the series yet, look away now. Towards the end of the first season, it turns out that Mae had it in her head for a while that she wanted Suzanne all to herself. This means that she had successfully driven a wedge between her and her family after conning her way into their home. Mae then managed to stage her own kidnapping, and in Suzanne’s efforts to get her back to safety from a literal devil-worshipping cult, her biological mother was killed.
We’re also not too sure what’s happening with Amontown’s residents. Their houses and the village have been very badly burnt, but the Satanists are now on a mission from the Devil himself, and I don’t think some flames are going to do much to stop them from completing their demonic tasks. Suzanne also going to have to try and repair things with her two children and her husband. She’s also going to have to keep on working as a psychiatrist to other patients. Hopefully, these new ones won’t be as attached to her as Mao was.
