Cobra Kai Season 6! What’s going on with it? Has Netflix greenlit the sixth season? If so, when could it be released on the streaming platform? Who could be in it? What could the story be about? Has a trailer for the sixth season been released already? These are all questions that we’re going to try and answer for you in this article.

However, I must warn you that not all of the answers are out there at the moment. So, the minute we hear anything new about the show’s sixth season (I should add ‘potential’ in that sentence), then we will update this article accordingly. So, without any further ado, let’s talk about Cobra Kai Season 6 on Netflix.

Before we get into all of that, we’re going to have to go over what the show is all about. So, here’s a plot synopsis of the series, courtesy of Netflix:

Cobra Kai takes place over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament with the continuation of the inescapable conflict between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.

So, as far as an official renewal from Netflix, that hasn’t happened yet. However, the people behind the series have revealed that they are working on the sixth season. Back in July of this year, one of the show’s creators, Jon Hurwitz, reassured fans that he had plans for what lies ahead for the series. He revealed this in a tweet in which he wrote:

All I can say is that we expect more Cobra Kai to come and that the Miyagiverse is far from finished.

However, it does seem as though Season 6 is basically a foregone conclusion. Shortly after Season 5 was released on Netflix, Hurwitz wrote on Twitter:

Season 6 has not yet been written. Will get on that after filming Obliterated, but lots of kickass ideas already percolating! #CobraKai

The show has been doing really, really well on Netflix. It only took the series one day to end up in Netflix’s number one spot in its streaming charts, and people really love this series. I’m pretty sure that it’s only a matter of time before Netflix officially greenlights the show for a sixth and final season. Yep, you read that bit correctly. I’ve been hearing that season six might be the show’s final season, which would be a bummer. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear anything more on that front.

When could it be released?

As far as the show’s release date is concerned, that’s not going to be an easy question to answer as the sixth season hasn’t been officially greenlit yet. But, given how long these shows tend to take, I would put good money on season six being released towards the end of 2023. It could slip into the beginning of 2024, but I wouldn’t put it any later than that.

I will update this article as soon as I hear any new information on that front also.

What could the story be?

So, this is actually a really good question. What could happen in the sixth season of this awesome show that’s on Netflix? Well, we know that Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso have finally found the secret to burying their decades-long feud. How, you ask? Well, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, they say, and that’s exactly what’s happened with Johnny and Daniel. They have a common enemy in Terry Silver, and they have to work together to take him down and his growing horde of obsessed Cobra Kai dojo members.

Interestingly enough, they end up learning from each other in the fifth season, and they end up establishing a balance between one another. They’ve developed a sort of yin and yang which means that they are now working together and learning from one another.

The fifth season ended with the rivalry between the two dojos ending. The finale saw Silver’s misdeeds finally catch up with him, and his students ended up ditching him after he was exposed for cheating at the All-Valley tournament, and his cruel nature was finally revealed to everybody. However, they will all have to figure out what to do now.

Are they going to join Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang (or whatever name they end up coming up with…?), or do they quit karate for good? It’s going to be interesting to see which path they end up taking. However, something tells me that the majority of characters in this show will keep it up with the karate. It becomes a way of life that’s hard just to quit.

Dallas Dupree Young (who played Kenny in the show) opened up in an interview with Digital Spy about his character being heartbroken after Silver’s true nature was revealed:

Kenny’s heartbroken. I mean, it was a gut-wrenching moment, honestly, because his father figure [Silver] is his leader, the guy that he looked up to, his mentor, kind of betrayed him in a sense. And for Kenny to watch that video and see the evidence, it was just very disheartening. So I think Kenny is in a rough headspace. He doesn’t really know where he wants to go at this point. But I can’t wait to see what happens with him.

I’m also pretty sure that we’re going to see some of the characters take on the Sekai Taikai, which is one of the most prestigious karate championships in the world. If they can all stick together and not end up fighting one another, then they can share their teachings (and Mr Miyagi’s knowledge) with the entire world and win the championship. That would be a cool final season!

Gianni Decenzo, who plays Demetri, had this to say on the matter during an interview with Digital Spy:

I know that the creators they want a great resolution like any good story. They don’t want to leave the fans hanging. So I think we can definitely see some more Cobra Kai in the future. I mean, there’s a lot still to solve – you got Miyagi-Do, Eagle Fang… They’re kind of working together but there’s still two separate groups and then of course prison seem to not be adequate enough to keep Kreese away!

Who could star in Cobra Kai Season 6?

The series stars Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso), William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence), Courtney Henggeler (Amanda LaRusso), Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz), Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keene), Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso), Jacob Bertrand (Hawk), Gianni Decenzo (Demetri), Vanessa Rubio (Carmen), Peyton List (Tory) and Martin Kove (John Kreese) with Dallas Dupree Young (Kenny), Oona O’Brien (Devon), Griffin Santopietro (Anthony), Yuji Okumoto (Chozen) and Thomas Ian Griffith (Terry Silver).

I’m pretty sure that all of these cast members will be back for the sixth season given the rumours that this might be the show’s final season. I think they would all want to come back, and the writers would want the show to end with a big bang!

Has a trailer been released yet?

So far, there’s been no trailer for Cobra Kai Season 6. I’m not even sure whether they’ve started filming the sixth season of the show yet. However, the minute there’s a new trailer released, I will add it to this article and talk about it for pages and pages, and this is easily one of my most anticipated upcoming seasons!

The show is written and executive produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg via their production company, Counterbalance Entertainment. Will Smith, James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett all executive produce the series for Westbrook Entertainment along with Susan Ekins.
