David Ayer Won’t Talk About His Cut Of Suicide Squad Anymore

David Ayer has revealed in a very emotional and heartfelt letter on social media that he will not be talking about his cut of Suicide Squad anymore.

There is so much that he goes over in this letter and if you’re interested in him, his career and his cut of Suicide Squad, I think you should read it.

He talks about his time working on the movie and also mentions the fact that the movie that came out in cinemas was not his version of the film.

Here’s a little snippet from his letter:

I put my life into Suicide Squad. I made something amazing – My cut is an intricate and emotional journey with some ‘bad people’ who are shit on and discarded (a theme that resonates in my soul).

Ayer then went on to add:

The studio cut is not my movie. Read that again. And my cut is not the 10 week director’s cut – It’s a fully mature edit by Lee Smith standing on the incredible work by John Gilroy. It’s all Steven Price’s brilliant score, with not a single radio song in the whole thing.

Ayer ended his letter by saying that he “will no longer speak publicly” about Suicide Squad.

Now, fans have been campaigning for Warner Bros. Pictures to release the Ayer cut of Suicide Squad.

They really should, however, the fact that James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is about to come out in cinemas worldwide means that Warner Bros. Pictures was never going to mention nor release David Ayer’s cut of his 2016 movie before Gunn’s film had come out.

That said, it would be such an easy win for Warner Bros. Pictures and HBO Max if they were to just release the Ayer Cut next year.

It would make the fans happy and would also result in justice for David Ayer.

It’s a shame because Warner Bros. Pictures has over the years been known as the studio that puts filmmakers first.

However, as far as the DCEU movies are concerned, they really haven’t been doing that.

Ayer also praised James Gunn’s movie

Well, they gave James Gunn, James Wan, Patty Jenkins (to a certain degree) and David F. Sandberg a lot of room to maneuver and make the films they wanted to make.

However, they didn’t do the same thing with the likes of Zack Snyder, David Ayer and even Cathy Yan who recently revealed that the studio made a lot of changes to her cut of the movie.
