Robin

5 Actors Who Could Play Robin In Matt Reeves’ The Batman Movie

There are rumours that Robin is going to play a part in Matt Reeves’ The Batman alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman, so here are 5 actors who could play the role.

It’s recently been revealed that Robert Pattinson is going to be playing Batman in Matt Reeves’ Caped Crusader movie, however, not much is known about who else will star in the film.

There have been rumours that Warner Bros. has signed deals with both R-Pats and Nicholas Hoult who was also reportedly up for the role of Batman.

I suggested that Hoult would be perfect for The Riddler, however, he wouldn’t be a bad fit for Robin either, and there’s now a rumour making its way around Hollywood that Robin could play a part in The Batman.

However, if this is to be true, then which actors would be a good fit for the role? This got me thinking of potential actors who could do a good job as Batman’s trusty sidekick, also known as the Boy Wonder.

Here are five actors I believe would be perfect for the role of Robin in the upcoming Batman movie:

5. Nicholas Hoult

Nicholas Hoult in Tolkien

Nicholas Hoult has already been in talks to star in the movie and they may have very well cast the British actor in the film, however, not as Batman, but as his sidekick, Robin. Personally, I think that he’d be far better suited to a villain role than Robin. He’d make an excellent Riddler. However, I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing him fight alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman if he were cast as Robin.

That said, I do think the role would be better suited to a younger actor since Hoult and Pattinson aren’t too far apart in age, which is why I have him further down this list.

4. Maisie Williams

Maisie Williams in Game of Thrones

I’d find it fascinating should Matt Reeves decided to go down The Dark Knight Returns route and have a female Robin, and Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams would be perfect in the role.

She’s already shown what a fantastic actress she is in the HBO series in which she plays Arya Stark, and she’s excellent in on-screen combat. She has all the skills required. All that’s left is to cast her as Robin and let her and R-Pats’ Batman wreck havoc upon the villains of Gotham, preferably inside Arkham Asylum.

3. Abraham Attah

Abraham Attah would make an excellent Robin

Abraham Attah showed everybody what a fine actor he is in Beasts Of No Nation. If you haven’t seen that film yet, I implore you to go and watch it now. He’s also had experience acting in a superhero movie. Abraham recently played Abe in Spider-Man: Homecoming, so he knows what it’s all about being in a big budget comic book movie.

Abraham is an up-and-coming actor and would be an interesting choice for the role of Robin. He’s a bit younger than the rest in this list, and has less experience. That said, he’d be a great choice for the future of the role given the fact that it’s been reported that Reeves is planning on making this a trilogy. Robin as a character could grow throughout the course of these movies and Abraham could grow with the role.

2. Asa Butterfield

Asa Butterfield in Sex Education

Asa Butterfield has been around for a while already despite being incredibly young. He’s an undeniably talented actor and has proven his worth time and time again. He’s starred in such films as Hugo, Ender’s Game, The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas and most recently was the lead in the Netflix series, Sex Education.

He’s a genuinely fantastic actor and has also been up for the role of Spider-Man, yet Marvel opted for fellow British actor, Tom Holland, instead. However, Marvel’s loss could end up being DC Comics’ gain should they case Asa as Robin for these upcoming Batman movies.

1. Ryan Potter

Ryan Potter in Titans

Ryan Potter is a remarkable young actor. He’s not just a great actor, he’s also a martial arts expert and he’s produced his own stuff in the past. For someone so young, he’s already done so much. You may know him as Beast Boy in Titans, and he’s great in that series, yet Warner Bros. could end up promoting him to the big time.

Potter certainly has the skills to make for an excellent Robin. He has everything you’d want for the role. He’s got the look, he’s young, he can act and he’s got the martial arts skills. He’s literally made for the role.

That said, the fact that he’s already in a DC Comics property might work against him, but it wouldn’t be the first time an actor’s played two superheroes. Just look at Chris Evans. He’s played by Captain American and The Human Torch. I’m sure they could work something out to get Potter the Robin gig. He’s just too good to ignore.

Anyway, The Batman, or whatever it’ll be called, is scheduled for release on June 25th, 2021, but that could change in time.
