It seems as though Dave Filoni might have approached Rian Johnson about directing episodes of The Mandalorian in the future.
This news was revealed by USA Today’s Sariah Wilson who did an interview with the Star Wars and Knives Out director recently.
She revealed that Rian Johnson was dying to direct an episode of the Star Wars show, but scheduling it in might be an issue for him.
Johnson, I believe, is one of the best directors ever to make a Star Wars movie.
His Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, was very divisive, but I still believe that in time it will be looked back upon with fondness.
He is currently working on Knives Out 2 which he’s now making for Netflix.
However, he’s also still scheduled to start work on a new Star Wars trilogy.
Fitting in an episode of The Mandalorian seems like a lot to ask of him, but he seems keen on doing it.

Here’s what Wilson said Johnson told her about directing episodes of The Mandalorian:
I asked Rian if he’d ever consider doing an episode of The Mandalorian. He said he was dying to, but that for him it’s all about scheduling. He’s been writing [Knives Out 2] and now he’s going to go directly into filming it. So it would be a matter of finding time to break away and do it. He said he has spoken to Dave Filoni about it.
So, the conversations still seem to be ongoing and I’m sure that Filoni and Jon Favreau would love to have the director on board.
However, I also think that some Star Wars fans might be rather upset should Johnson also get to direct an episode of The Mandalorian.
