Reacher-Season-2-Amazon-Release-Date-Cast-Story

It’s recently been revealed that Amazon has greenlit Reacher Season 2, and naturally, fans of the show want some release date answers. When will the second season be released, who will star in it, and what could the story be? These are all questions that I’m going to try and answer in this article. However, be warned, not all the answers are out there just yet.

That said, the minute we get any new information about Reacher Season 2, we will update this article accordingly. Right, let’s get into Reacher Season 2 and try to figure out when its release date on Amazon Prime Video will be.

Reacher Season 2: is it happening?

The first question we need to answer properly is whether Reacher Season 2 is happening or not. The short answer to that question – as stated above – is yes. Here’s what the head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, had to say about Reacher being renewed for a Season 2:

The phenomenal debut of ‘Reacher’ is a testament to Lee Child’s creation of one of entertainment’s most well-known heroes, Nick Santora’s original approach to the storytelling, Alan’s brilliant embodiment of the character, and the dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera to make such an undeniably bingeworthy series. The global impact of ‘Reacher’ makes it one of Prime Video’s biggest series debuts, and we can’t wait to bring fans a second season of their new favorite show.

Reacher’s showrunner, Nick Santora added:

The entire ‘Reacher’ team—cast, production, writers, etc.—is so happy with the wonderful reception the show has received. Amazon, Skydance, and Paramount have been such fantastic partners and everyone is excited to roll up their sleeves and get to work on what will be a great Season 2.

Right, let’s try and figure out when Reacher Season 2 could be released. It all depends on when they start shooting the first season. However, I am pretty certain that Amazon Studios will want to get production on Season 2 started as soon as possible.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they start shooting the second season this summer – maybe starting in June. Production should carry on for a few months – and I would expect it to be finished in December 2022. Then post-production should take a few more months, and I would expect Reacher Season 2 to be released on Prime Video in March, April, May time 2023.

Those would be the three months that Amazon would like to have the second season released. These shows tend to take about a year to make, from the moment they get the greenlight.

Given the fact that each Reacher books only tends to have one character in common – Jack Reacher himself – there’s only one cast member from the first season who’ll definitely be in the second. This means that the only cast member who’s confirmed for Reacher Season 2 is Alan Ritchson.

The first season starred Malcolm Goodwin as Oscar Finlay, Willa Fitzgerald as Roscoe Conklin, Chris Webster as KJ, Kliner’s spoiled son, Bruce McGill as Grover Teale, and Maria Sten as Frances Neagley. The one cast member who could also return in Season 2 could be Sten as Neagley.

She’s a former army investigator who worked with Reacher and is now employed as a private detective. We’ll have to wait and see which other actors will join Ritchson in a season 2.

Reacher’s first season was pretty much a straight adaptation of Lee Child’s Killing Floor. That book was the first ever Reacher book, and it was published in 1997. It’s been posited that Reacher Season 2 will be an adaptation of the second Reacher book, Die Trying. Die Trying sees Reacher trying to help Holly Johnson, an attractive young woman who’s struggling with her crutches on a Chicago street.

The two of them are kidnapped at gunpoint. They are thrown into a dark van and taken 2,000 miles across America, and they have no idea why they were taken and where they’re going. They end up trapped inside a very remote location and have to work together to escape and find out what’s going on. I would expect Reacher Season 2 to be a take on Die Trying.

Absolutely loving the Reacher series – casting is spot on and I love the way it’s following the book storyline. Make my day and lets have a second series, either using the prequels or Book 2, Die Trying!!!

Absolutely looking forward to it. This guy IS Jack Reacher. That wannabee from the 2 movies (Cruise) has NO intimidation factor. My mom, at 83 could take Cruise out so easily.
Alan Ritchson is an excellent Hack Reacher.

Season 1 was great. I can’t wait for season 2. Problem is waiting a year for each season is excruciating. There’s 26 books so far. If we are to expect 1 book per year they will never get caught up, and Alan Ritchson will get old on us… Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Die Trying would be timely commentary in light of the January 6th insurrection, but I would like to see a flashback season when Reacher was still in the Army while Alan is still young enough to pull it off. Night School would be my nominee.

I LOVED the first season!! I have read most of the books in the series and Alan Ritchson fit Reacher’s character perfectly! He may not be as tall as Reacher but he personified the character wonderfully. I look forward to seeing season two as soon as it’s released.

If you use anyone else than the cast that was still living at the end, especially Alan Ritchson, it will not be the same and I will not watch, especially if you use Dwayne Johnson, he’s too big headed now as it is. Use the cast that was living at the end, that would be more reasonable since they survived in the first season.

It would make more since to use the cast that was living at the end of this season, especially Alan Ritchson. If you use anyone else it will not be the same and will lose viewers, especially me. If you use Dwayne Johnson, I definitely will not watch. He’s to big headed for himself as it is now. Use they cast that was alive at the end of the first season.

Yes! We are definitely looking forward to the next chapter in the Jack Reacher files. No reason they couldn’t do more than one book per year. Call the show Jack Reacher Files and keep ’em coming steady PLEASE

Enjoyed season 1 of Reacher and as a dedicated Reacher reader was glad they stuck to the storyline best they could. Finally finally got the Reacher character right, Cruise just didn’t get it done. Cannot wait until season 2!

I have read every “Reacher” book by Lee child except the last two. So I definitely would expect an entirely different cast. That is how the stories are written; you can’t be a traveling man and have the same cast members every season. I love that in this rendition Reacher is closer to the book than the movie. Can’t wait for season 2.

I have read all of the Reacher books and watched the first Reacher film, in which Tom Cruise was totally miscast. He’s not a bad actor but he ain’t Reacher! The Prime series was great and Alan Ritchson was perfect as Reacher. I am looking forward very much to the second series.

Just finished the series, loved it. I can’t wait for season two and I’m glad they’re finally following the books, but it’s a bit sad that the other members of the cast most likely won’t be part of it, I’m the kind of guy who wants to see the love interest getting somewhere (to just lose all that story seems like a waste). But anyway, gret to hear there’s going to be a season 2.

REACHER RULES!!! He stays along with his military side kick private investigator…. Tom Cruse was no “Reacher.” For those who have not read Lee Child’s series..get started!!!

We loved Season 1 of Reacher. Binge watched all 8 episodes and can’t wait for season 2. Would like more than 8 episodes though. The books are longer and could produce more than 8 episodes. Alan much better than Tom since he fits the Jack Reacher character in Child’s books. But it’s like waiting for next football season after the Super Bowl except worse!

Season 1 was incredible; excellent story line, and great characters with excellent cinematography. Enough action to keep my testosterone level up, and enough romance to keep my wife happy. We are looking forward to season 2.
