Mark Hamill Reportedly In Star Wars: Ahsoka

Mark Hamill might be turning up in the upcoming Star Wars: Ahsoka series if a new report is to be believed. This report comes to us via Giant Freakin Robot, and I would love to see Hamill return to the Star Wars universe. However, this wouldn’t be the first time he has returned to the galaxy far, far away since turning up as Luke Skywalker in the latest Star Wars trilogy.

According to Giant Freakin Robot’s report, Mark Hamill will be returning to the Star Wars universe for the new live-action adventures of Ahsoka Tano. They then added that he’d be coming back as Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. However, given how the character has returned to these new Star Wars shows in the past, it seems as though Hamill will be working more as a supervisor rather than actually acting in the series.

That said, GFR is claiming that Hamill will be returning in the upcoming series as the digitally de-aged version of Luke Skywalker. However, the previous versions of the character we’ve seen have been a combination of deepfake technology and digitally de-ageing. It was also revealed that in The Book Of Boba Fett, they actually used artificial intelligence to voice Luke Skywalker. It resulted in some people thinking that Luke’s lines in the show felt a bit, well, robotic.

We’ve actually seen Luke Skywalker in both The Book Of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian Season 2. His return in both shows was kept very much under wraps, and people were both surprised and delighted to see the iconic Jedi Master return to the Star Wars universe. Given that all of these live-action Star Wars shows are set after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return Of The Jedi, it makes perfect sense for Luke to take an active involvement in what’s going on in these series.

When is the Ahsoka series being released?

Luke’s return in The Mandalorian Season 2 was one of my favourite recent Star Wars moments. He came back to take Baby Yoda (aka, Grogu), and then went off to start the little green guy’s Jedi training. We then saw the pair again in The Book Of Boba Fett, and it turned out that Grogu would much rather be with Mando as opposed to training as a Jedi with Luke. Luke lets Grogu be with Mando (aka, Din Djarin), and that sets up The Mandalorian Season 3, which should be landing on Disney Plus in the not-so-distant future.

We already saw the third season’s teaser trailer during Lucasfilm’s presentation at the recent D23 Expo. It really seems as though we’re going to be seeing some very exciting things in these upcoming Star Wars shows. One of the big question marks is surrounding who’s going to be playing Grand Admiral Thrawn in the live-action Ahsoka Tano show. We’ve been told that Lars Mikkelsen has already been cast in the role. However, it’s taken Lucasfilm and Disney a long time to confirm this casting.
