BRILLIANT

Creator: Julie Plec
Director: Michael Karasick
Starring: Danielle Rose Russell, Aria Shahghasemi, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, Matt Davis, Qunicy Fouse, Chris Lee, Leo Howard and Omono Okojie

Things really stepped up in this episode of Legacies and I loved every second. There are some predictable storylines coming back again, that I kind of wished were just left behind. However, overall, this felt like a darker episode and the ending was one of the best endings Legacies has done for a long time.

HOPE DISCOVERS THAT ALARIC HAS BEEN LYING TO HER

Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) had to relinquish control in this episode, which we all know she finds extremely difficult thing to do. However, she doesn’t let it last for long. We know Hope has massive trust issues and her finding out that Alaric has been lying to her is hurtful to her. I’m glad they didn’t drag this lying behind Hope’s back for too long. Also, as Alaric (Matt David) really is against Hope becoming a full tribrid, I do wonder how their relationship is going to change this season.

Alaric is very concerned about Hope’s vampire side and you can’t really blame him considering he has experience dealing first-hand with her father. It’ll be interesting when Hope’s vampire side is finally activated because Hope is defiantly the kind of character to switch off her humanity. Then we could see someone in her inner circle (the super squad) getting hurt. It has been said that Rebekah is going to appear in an episode really soon to help get through to Hope. We can assume this is something to do with her activating her vampire side. The relationship between Hope and Alaric is going to be really tested this season and I’m intrigued to find out.

CLARK IS BACK, BUT IS MALIVORE’S REAL PLAN?

Bringing Clark (Nick Fink) back was an interesting plot choice. Making him face his dad once more felt too predictable. It would have been nice if Clark was just left to go and live his life. With that being said, Fink is great in this role. It is a nice surprise when Clark just pops up and shows his face. There is a lot of potential with this character and I do wonder if he will show his face again further down the line. He has had two near-death experiences, now since becoming human, so we can assume he is going to try and live a quiet life now. However, if our team ever beat Malivore, maybe we can see Clark again.

Malivore’s plan is still uncertain at the moment. I’m not really sure what he is trying to achieve. Somehow the writers have managed to keep this Malivore arc going for 4 seasons now. Even though I want him gone so someone new can take over the villain mantle, I feel like it isn’t going to happen. It wouldn’t surprise me at this point if Malivore wants Hope to become a tribrid, because that will make him stronger in some way. Even though we know he is allergic to Hope’s blood, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some kind of loophole.

WILL JOSIE EVER BE ALLOWED TO BE HAPPY?

If we ever got over Malivore, maybe we could deal with the merge and get to see what Caroline is up to. Speaking of the merge, last episode Josie (Kaylee Bryant) finally came clean to Finch (Courtney Bandeko) about her future. Josie and Finch were growing on me as a couple. However once again the writers just can’t let her be happy. I understand how Finch may be finding it difficult to get her head around what could happen to Josie. However, what I don’t want is for what happened last season to occur again this season. Either they should be together or they should be apart. A choice needs to be made and stuck to it. I do think Bryant and Bandeko work well together in scenes. However, I want Josie to have a love interest that doesn’t shut down and run every time something comes up.

LIZZIE AND ETHAN ARE THE NEW COUPLE IN TOWN IN LEGACIES

Speaking of things, I don’t want reoccurring is Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) and MG (Quincy Fouse). Last season they got the closest they could to finally being together. Now in this season already, Lizzie is moving on and MG isn’t happy. I’m tired of watching MG pine over Lizzie or the other way round. The same with Josie and Finch, I feel like the writers need to make a choice with what they want to do with these characters. It’s not really that interesting anymore, instead, it feels like we are in an endless cycle.

With that being said Ethan (Leo Howard) and Lizzie was a surprise coupling, which I didn’t see coming. Maybe this was just a way for Howard to keep his series regular title. Their date together was extremely cheesy and surely, they could have been given something better. However, Lizzie and Ethan might work, because opposites attract and everything. The only issue with getting Ethan back involved is will he remember what MG forced him to forget?

The ending of this episode was more shocking than I was expecting. Also, it was a much darker ending than Legacies normally does. Is Ethan dead? Probably not, but I’m really invested now to see what Malivore has done to him. This episode was good and they are heavily hinting that Hope will turn full tribrid soon. It feels as if the plot has some momentum now and I’m actually excited to see what is going to happen in the next episode. However, I do wish that the writers would make some clear choices on some of the characters’ journeys this season.
